Lesson Worth Sharing with TED-Ed

Hellooo... !!!

It's quite a good day here. I hope it is the same wherever you are. In this article, I'd like to make my day even better by sharing a certain website. This website is THE website you want to use if you've ever dreamed of using Youtube videos as a main source of learning. Alright then, I present to you...

TED-Ed

"Huh, what kind of website is this one?"

Well, TED-Ed is a website that allows you to create lessons using fun Youtube videos. In this website, you can easily share a video you find on Youtube as the main part of your material. You can also add some questions or discussions for your students based on the video. To get started, please access this link: https://ed.ted.com/

"Using Youtube videos sounds nice, tell me more"

Let's jump right into the steps as always, shall we?

1. Make your account

When you open the website, you will be greeted by this owl. To see what he is all about, you have to click register or sign in (if you already have an account). Fill out the necessary details, and done.

2. Signing in to your account

From the same screen, click either sign in or choose educators under the "Stay curious!".

3. Creating your lesson

You will be presented with this screen after successfully signing in to your account. Now, the first thing you need to do is to click the "Create" button. There, choose the "A lesson" option.

Here, you need to put the link of the Youtube video you want to use in your lesson.

This is the most interesting part. In this screen, you can design what you want to do with the video.
- Let's begin: The introduction of your lesson
- Think: This is where you put your questions for your students.
- Dig deeper: You can add additional information here.
- Discuss: Here, you can put a prompt for your students' discussion.
- And finally...: The closure of your lesson
Finally, after you've filled all of the parts, you can click publish.

Simple right?

As the drill, now we jump directly into the pros and cons of the website.
"It sounds really good and simple, what can be bad about the website?"

Let's start with the pros
1. You can use Youtube videos as primary material
2. You can add activities based on the video
3. Easy and simple to use
4. No premium account needed to access all the necessary features

Now, the cons
1. Limited only to 1 video per activity
2. Limited activity variations
3. The quality of lesson content may vary

  1. As usual, Kusav uses informal words and I think that’s one good characteristic of a blog. This makes readers more engaged as if he/ she’s just talking with the writer.
Thanks for this. It is indeed worth sharing!
